The Guestbook

by Modern muse
A classic keepsake, reimagined

...and something modern muse

Your wedding day is made up of the people you love, the details you chose, and all the little moments you’ll never want to forget. The Guestbook is a more personal take on the traditional wedding guest book, turning your guests’ signatures into a piece of artwork you can actually live with long after the last dance.

Guests sign individual hand-cut butterflies, or a shape created just for your celebration. Once they’re returned to the studio, we transform them into a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork designed around your wedding and made to hang in your home.

COMMISSION YOUR GUESTBOOK

01. LET’S TALK DETAILS

Tell us about your wedding. Your theme, colors, the date, and total number of guests invited. From there, we’ll pull together a quote for you. Once your invoice is paid and your contract is signed, your date is reserved, and we’ll begin prepping your custom kit.

02. READY TO SIGN

Before the big day, you’ll receive everything you need: loose, hand-cut butterflies or your chosen shape, a collection box, gold signature pen, and simple signage so your guests know exactly where to leave their mark.

03. BACK TO THE STUDIO

After the celebration, send your signed pieces back to the studio using the prepaid label we provide.

04. FROM SIGNATURES TO ART

Your guests’ signatures are transformed into your final framed heirloom and shipped back to you.

From “I do” to Heirloom

No two weddings are the same, so no two guestbooks should be either. Your artwork can draw from the details that made your celebration so special to you: your invitation suite, color palette, florals, linens, venue, patterns, or anything else you want to bring into the design.

While butterflies are our signature, custom shapes are always welcome. We don’t want to simply preserve your guests’ signatures. We want to create something that brings you right back to the feeling of the day.

Madeline & Sam

01/ Butterflies

Madeline and Sam celebrated in Lake Charles, Louisiana, with an intimate wedding filled with blush pinks and soft greens. Their guest signed our signature butterfly shape.

For the finished piece, we added a painted background to match the pink in their invitation suite and created specialty paper inspired by their wedding stationery, weaving the details of their celebration into artwork made to live in their home.

Mary Lane & Colin

01/ Leaves

Greenery and natural details were central to Mary Lane and Colin’s wedding, so a custom leaf became the perfect guest-signing shape.

Once signed, the leaves came together with the colors and organic details of their celebration, creating a piece that brings a little bit of their wedding day home with them.

Mason & John

03/ Cowboy Boots

Mason and John’s Jackson Hole wedding embraced a western aesthetic with soft blues and thoughtful details throughout. Leaning into the western vibes, guests signed a custom boot shape.

For the final piece, we brought in stars, paisley, and more Western-inspired details, including references to the cowboy boot motif used in their stationery. Together, those details make the artwork feel like a natural extension of their wedding weekend.

My wedding vision was in the best hands.

"As a lifelong butterfly lover, I instantly fell in love with Lizzie's work. I knew her bespoke wedding guestbook art wasn't just something I wanted for my wedding. It was something I needed. From our first consultation, Lizzie made the entire process feel effortless. She listened to my ideas with genuine enthusiasm, offered thoughtful guidance, and gave me the reassurance every bride needs.

What impressed me most, however, was Lizzie's dedication when the unexpected happened. UPS unfortunately lost my package; even though this was completely outside her control, she immediately took action, coordinating directly with UPS while keeping me informed every step of the way. Most importantly, she acted quickly, sending an entirely new package via overnight shipping so everything would arrive in time for my wedding.

I firmly believe that true customer service isn't measured when everything goes according to plan, it's measured by how someone responds when challenges arise. Lizzie exceeded every expectation. Her professionalism, responsiveness, and genuine care gave me complete confidence that my wedding vision was in the best hands.

Even after the wedding, Lizzie continued to provide incredible support, helping with setup, adjustments, and final design decisions. Seeing that vision come to life has been so exciting, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Her talent is exceptional, but it's her care, communication, and dedication that truly set her apart. I cannot recommend her highly enough."

Let’s make
something beautiful.

What does it cost?

Pricing is based primarily on your estimated guest count, which helps determine the size of your final artwork. We prefer the total number of guests invited so we can include extra shapes and make sure no one is forgotten. Once we receive your wedding date and estimated guest count, we will provide a custom quote.

Does it have to be butterflies?

Not at all. Butterflies are our signature, but custom shapes can be created to better reflect your wedding.

Can the colors match my wedding?

Yes. We can pull from invitations, linens, wallpaper, fabric samples, color references, and inspiration images when developing the artwork.

Does the final artwork have to match the sample?

No. The 10x10 sample helps you and your guests understand the concept and lets you experience the colors and design before the final heirloom is created. Small adjustments after the wedding are completely normal.

Can I add a painted background?

Yes. A painted background can be added for additional texture and depth for $150. We wait until after the wedding to finalize this decision so you can first see your sample artwork.

How long does the process take?

Your pre-wedding package will be completed and shipped before your wedding. Once the signed shapes return to the studio, we begin designing the final heirloom and keep you updated throughout production.
